Jain Vegetable Frankie

Serving : 5 Frankies

Ingredients :

For Tortillas

  • 1/2 Cup Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 2 Teaspoon Oil
  • Salt To Taste

For Rolls

  • 2 Raw Bananas (Kacha Kela)
  • 1/2 Cup Shredded Cabbage
  • 1/2 Cup Green Peas (Mutter) (Boiled)
  • 1 Green Chilly
  • 1 Teaspoon Chopped Coriander (Kothmir)
  • Pinch of Dry Mango Powder (Aamchoor)
  • Corn Flour
  • Butter
  • Salt To Taste

For Salad :

  • 1/2 Cup Cabbage (Shredded)
  • 1/2 Cup Cucumber (Shredded) (Kakdi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Chopped Coriander
  • Chaat Masala
  • Salt To Taste

To Serve :

Method :

For Tortillas

  • Mix both flours, salt and oil and knead a semi stiff dough with water as needed.
  • Divide the dough in 5 equal balls and roll out thin, flat chapati from each ball.
  • Roast the rotis slightly from both sides on hot tawa and keep it aside.

For Salad : Mix all the ingredients and keep aside.

For Rolls

  • Boil Raw Bananas in a cooker (around 3 whistles).
  • Peel the skin of bananas and add shredded cabbage, boiled peas, chopped chilly, coriander, salt and dry mango powder.
  • Mix everything and then divide into 5 equal parts.
  • Make roll out of each part and then roll into corn flour and shallow fry using butter on hot tawa (alternatively rolls can be deep fried).
  • Keep the rolls aside after it turns golden brown on all sides.

To Serve

  • Apply Green Chutney on tortillas
  • Place 1 spoon of salad, 1 roll, grated cheese.
  • Roll the tortilla to give the shape of franky.
  • Grill the franky on hot tawa using butter so that it becomes crisp.
  • Cover one end with tissue napkin and serve hot with tomato ketchup.

    I tried this was really yummy 🙂 just added rock salt to the salad along with chaat masala 🙂 Hey can you tell me how to make Paneer Frankie with tomatoes? And please try and post recipes for pad Thai and basil tofu!
