Jain Nankhataai

Ingredients :

  • 3/4 th cup All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 1/4 th cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 3/4 th cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 – 3/4 th cup Vegetable Ghee (Dalda brand)
  • Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder

Method :

Sieve all purpose flour, gram flour and powdered sugar in a bowl.  Knead a soft dough using ghee as needed. Smoothen the dough properly and divide into 20 equal round balls. Grease oven tray with ghee and place the balls in it. Add pinch of cardamom powder on each ball (optional).

Preheat the oven at 180 degrees centigrade for 2-3 min. Bake the nankhatai for 10 mins on 160 degrees and later 10 minutes on 180 degrees. If using microwave, Put it on convection mode and set the time and temperature as above. Check intermittently, if it turns light brown stop and readjust the temperature.

Nankhatai are Indian Shortbread biscuits popular in Indian subcontinent. You can have it with Indian Chai / Tea
