Green Peas / Matar Paratha

Jain Mutter Paratha

Serving : 4 Parathas

Ingredients :

For Dough

  • 1 Cup Wheat Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Oil
  • Salt To Taste

For Filling :

  • 1 Cuo Boiled and Mashed Green Peas
  • 1 Green Chilli (Finely Chopped)
  • 1 Teaspoon Fennel Seeds (Variyali)
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander (Finely Chopped)
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil
  • Salt To Taste

Method :

For Dough :

  • Mix all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough using water as needed.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
  • make each into a ball and keep it aside.

For Filling :

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add green chillies, fennel seeds and mashed green peas.
  • Cook for a minute or two and then add lemon juice, sugar, salt, coriander and garam masala powder.
  • Mix everything and cook for two more minutes.
  • Remove from the flame and cool down the mixture.

For Making Parathas :

  • Roll out dough ball into small chapati.
  • Add 1 Tablespoon filling in it.
  • Cover the mixture by drawing up the edges towards the centre.
  • Roll out the ball into a round Paratha as large as a saucer.
  • Heat a tawa and place the paratha on it.
  • Cook the parantha adding oil till golden brown on both sides.
  • Repeat the procedure with remaining dough balls and filling.

Serve hot with Yogurt (Curd) or Tomato Ketchup.

Tip : You can make different kinds of parathas just by changing the filling. Below are few recipes of different filling used for making parathas.

Filling for Panner Paratha : Mix 1 cup grated paneer, 1 finely chopped green chilli, finely chopped coriander, 1 tsp aamchoor (dry mango) powder and salt to taste.

Filling for Kela Paratha : Boil, peel and mash two raw bananas. Add 1 chopped green chilli, 2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, salt, garam masala powder and finely chopped coriander.
